Carlos is a Professor of Finance at EGADE Business School at Tecnológico de Monterrey and an Instructor of Sustainable Finance and Environmental Economics at Harvard University Division of Continuing Education. He has experience in sustainable finance, renewable energy, financial analysis, business planning, development economics, and real estate finance. Vargas was formerly chief financial officer for New Evolution Ventures Mexico, a subsidiary of an investment fund that manages more than 1,000 health and fitness facilities worldwide, and chief operating officer for the Vertex Companies, USA. Vargas holds a Ph.D. from the University of Zurich, Switzerland, an MBA from IPADE Business School in Mexico, and an ALM from Harvard Extension School.
Alessandra has been the Head of Asset Owners & ESG Investing, Capital Markets, at Borsa Italiana and London Stock Exchange Group since 2010. In her role she promotes Capital Markets among Asset Owners at a global level and she develops strategic intelligence to capture changing trends and new business opportunities. She is also the focal point for all ESG Investing related issues and initiatives. Alessandra is a Mentor for the LSEG Mentor Program and Professor of International Financial Markets at Bocconi University and author of numerous publications on investors’ behavior, international flows of funds and responsible investments. She studied Economics at Bocconi University and Econometrics at Southampton University.
Michael is the Chief Sustainability Officer at BMO Financial Group where he oversees sustainability strategy and leads bank-wide initiatives on environmental and social risk, climate change strategy, ESG focused investor relations, sustainability-related disclosure, operational sustainability, and sustainable finance. Prior to joining BMO Michael was a Partner at a major international law firm where he led client advisory on environmental and social risk matters. He has served on the Steering Committee of the Equator Principles Association and Chaired the Social Risk Working Group and North America Working Group.
